Patricia Poullain est de nationalité franco-irlandaise. Elle est diplômée de la Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. A l’occasion de son premier emploi à la Compagnie Théâtrale de Dundee en Ecosse, elle assiste dans son oeuvre Kathleen Ankers, la bien célèbre décoratrice de théâtre.
Plus tard devenue la femme d’un haut fonctionnaire de l’ONU affecté en Corée, elle étudie l’art auprès du peintre coréen Lee Se Duk devenu conservateur du Sonje Museum of Contemporary Art à Séoul.
Alors qu’elle vit à New York, elle assiste à des cours de l’Art Students League et prend part à de nombreuses expositions, telles que la Granville Gallery et Modern Masters (1953), Art Directions (1959), Galerie Félix Vercel, » Peintres féminins de France » (1960), la Galerie Vercel, Avenue Madison, représentée par Fautrier et Vieira da Silva, l’Explorer Gallery (1961). En 1963, ses toiles sont acceptées par un jury représenté notamment par Larry Rivers et Ad Reinhardt pour la 21e Annual Oil Competition au Village Art Center de Greenwich Village. Par ailleurs, La Maison Française de New York University lui consacre une exposition particulière en 1964.
De 1962 à 1967, Le jury de l’Exposition Annuelle d’Art à l’O.N.U. au bénéfice de l’UNICEF accepte ses toiles.
New York prend toute sa signification sur le plan de l’histoire de l’Art pour Patricia POULLAIN lorsque les grands abstractionnistes, tels que Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning et Robert Motherwell percent dans leur domaine.En 1965, le Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) présente l’exposition dite » The Responsive Eye » (L’oeil réactif) avec Frank Stella, Bridget Riley et d’autres peintres. L’Art Op inspire alors fortement Patricia Poullain et influe sur ses oeuvres. Dans les années 70, Patricia POULLAIN vit en France, elle expose des toiles lors d’expositions à Cagnes-sur-Mer et Tourettes-sur Loup.
A présent, elle vit en Normandie où elle participe à la Douzième Rencontre des Arts Plastiques à Nogent-le-Rotrou (2003). Eté 2005, ses toiles sont exposées à Dublin à Oisin Gallery. En 2006 et 2007, Hillsboro Fine Art, Dublin, expose ses oeuvres avec celles de Robert Motherwell, Sidney Nolan et d’autres artistes célèbres. En 2007, après une exposition exclusive à la Galerie « Les Notes Bleues », elle participe à la 15ème Rencontre des Arts Plastiques à Nogent-le-Rotrou. En 2008, la Stone Gallery, Dublin, organise une exposition de groupe ayant pour titre » Una cosa mentale « , on peut alors y découvrir ses dernières œuvres. En 2009, elle participe à l’Exposition de groupe de Sandra Higgins au Gallery 6 à Chelsea, Londres. En novembre 2010, une exposition exclusive lui est consacrée à Bretoncelles dans l’Orne. A Londres, en février 2011, elle participe au Works on Paper Fair au Science Museum avec le groupe d’artistes de Sandra Higgins.
Décembre 2011, Monsieur Nigel Murray, propriétaire du Château de Blavou à St-Denis-sur-Huisne, a exposé ses œuvres dans ses salons pendant la période des fêtes et la saison des concerts. En février 2012, Alastair Sooke, l’historien d’art, a choisi Patricia Poullain pour l’accompagner lors d’une visite filmée par la BBC de l’exposition au musée Tate Modern, de Yayoi Kusama. En avril 2012, Grace Teshima a organisé pour elle une exposition exclusive dans sa galerie de Montmartre, Paris, avec Sandra Higgins comme conservateur. Novembre 2012, Megan Piper et Sandra Higgins ont collaboré sur l’exposition de groupe, « New Possibilities » à la Galerie Piper, Soho, Londres en compagnie de Barry Cook, Graham Boyd et d’autres qui continuent à travailler depuis les années 70. En 2013, quatre de ses œuvres furent choisis à être accrochées au « Grand Design » en show-room du Excel Fair au Victoria Dock, Londres. 2014 et 2015, trois toiles furent exposées en groupe à l’hôtel des Arts (Rémalard, France). Plusieurs présentations sont visibles sur le site www.riseart.com. Représentée en Irlande à la galerie Trinity, Dublin. Ses œuvres appartiennent à des collectionneurs privés d’Angleterre, d’Irlande, de France, d’Italie et les Etats Unis.
Patricia Poullain is of Irish-French nationality. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In her first job in the Theatre in Dundee, Scotland, she spent some time as assistant to the well known scenic artist, Kathleen Ankers.
Later, married to a French United Nations official and posted to Korea, she studied art with the Korean painter, Lee Se Duk, who became curator of the Sonje Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul.

The Annual UN Art Exhibition for the benefit of UNICEF was held in the lobby of the UN building in New York. The jury accepted Patricia Poullain’s works every year from 1962 to 1967.

In 2007, after a solo exhibition at the gallery, « Les Notes Bleues », she participated in the 15ème Rencontre des Arts Plastiques in Nogent-le-Rotrou. July 2008, the Stone Gallery, Dublin, included her in the group show, Une cosa mentale. In June 2009, she participated in the Sandra Higgins group show at Gallery6 in Chelsea, London. In November 2010, the town of Bretoncelles (Orne) gave her a solo exhibition. In London, in February 2011, she participated in the Works on Paper Fair at the Science Museum with Sandra Higgins’ group of artists.
December 2011, Nigel Murray, owner of the Château de Blavou in St Denis sur Huisne showed her works during the concerts and holiday celebrations. In February 2012, the art historian, Alastair Sooke invited her to join a BBC commented tour of the Yayoi Kusama show then at the Tate Modern. In April 2012, Grace Teshima gave her a solo exhibition at her gallery in Montmartre, Paris, with Sandra Higgins as curator. In November, 2012 her works were in the « New Possibilities » show at the Piper Gallery, Soho, London, in company with Barry Cook, Graham Boyd and other artists still working since the ’70s. Megan Piper and Sandra Higgins were the curators. In 2013 four of her works were chosen to hang in the Grand Design model room at the Excel Fair at Victoria Dock. London. 2014 and 2015, 3 works were shown in the group shows at the Hôtel des Arts,Rémalard. France. Several examples are permanently displayed on www.riseart.com . She is shown in Ireland by Trinity Gallery, Dublin. Her works are in private collections in England, Ireland, France, Italy and USA.
